About Formula Student
The Formula Student is the largest engineering competition for students worldwide. It was founded in 1981 by the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) in the USA and has since spread all over the world. Every year about 20,000 students from about 500 teams from all 6 continents take part in the Formula Student competitions and travel thousands of kilometers.
The task for the Formula Student teams is the completely independent development, financing, construction and marketing of a single-seater formula racing car. All this happens within one year. Year after year. Because the Formula Student is not a temporary phenomenon. Year after year the teams try to prove themselves in the world ranking with a new racing car. The Formula Student teams measure their strength at the international competitions, among them: Formula Student Germany, Formula Student Austria, Formula SAE Australasia, etc.
Through this competition students not only get the chance to gain practical experience during their studies and to get a first insight into the economy.
